The best client portal software in 2026
The best client portal software depends on what the people outside your team need from it. SuiteDash and Assembly bundle a client portal with CRM and billing. Moxo runs structured workflows. Clinked suits secure file sharing. Softr lets you build your own. Basecamp keeps shared projects simple. Unblockd is for a sponsor’s decisions and progress, on client projects and internal ones, beside the project tool you already use.

How we chose
We judged each portal from the sponsor’s side, on agency and internal projects alike: the first link they open, what they can do there, and what it costs as more people outside the team join.
- What the sponsor has to do
- Every login or install you ask of a sponsor costs replies. We noted where they need an account and where a link is enough.
- How the price grows
- Some portals charge per user or per contact, others a flat fee. People outside the team often outnumber it, so this decides the bill a year from now.
- What the portal is for
- Files and invoices, forms and workflows, or decisions and progress. Pick the job first, then the tool.
- Your brand on it
- Sponsors notice whose name is on the page. We checked which plan puts your logo or domain on it.
- Fit with your stack
- A portal that copies work from your project tool by hand goes stale within a week.
- We read each vendor’s own pricing page and product pages, and wrote down only what they say. Where a page didn’t confirm something, we left it out.
- Prices are the published list prices in US dollars before tax, as of the date at the top. Vendors change them often, so follow the source link before you buy.
- We make Unblockd, and it’s on every list. We placed it where it fits the criteria, and we say plainly where another tool is the better choice.
- Nobody paid to be listed, and there are no affiliate links.
SuiteDash(the vendor’s site)
Best for: an all-in-one suite with a portal, at a flat price.
- Published price
- From $19 a month (Start) or $49 (Thrive), one price for the account rather than per user. Source, as of October 5, 2026
- Free option
- 14-day free trial
Strengths
- One price for the account, not per user, from $19 a month.
- Bundles CRM, a white-label client portal, proposals, contracts, billing, projects, and file exchange.
Limits
- A broad suite: if you only need a page for your sponsors, you’ll set up and pay for modules you won’t use.
- Projects live inside SuiteDash, so a team on Asana or Jira runs two systems.
Pick it if you’re a small agency that wants CRM, portal, and billing in one place, and you’re happy to move your projects into it.
Back to the listAssembly(the vendor’s site)
Best for: a branded portal with messaging and payments.
- Published price
- Starter $29, Professional $99, Advanced $499 a month, billed annually. Source, as of October 5, 2026
- Free option
- Free plan: 5 active contacts and 1 internal user
Strengths
- A free plan for your first 5 active contacts.
- Messaging, a team inbox, billing and payments, and 30+ pre-made apps are included.
- An API and MCP connector from the Starter plan.
Limits
- Plans are sized by active contacts and internal users, so the price rises as you add clients.
- A custom domain and removing the Assembly badge start at Professional ($99 a month).
Pick it if you run a service business where the portal is where clients message you, pay you, and find their files.
Back to the listUnblockdOur product
Best for: sponsor decisions and progress, beside your project tool.
- Published price
- Team $15 per team member a month. Sponsors are free. See pricing
- Free option
- Free plan: 1 project and up to 3 teammates
Strengths
- Your sponsor answers each decision from the email, on an agency project or an internal one: they tap an option, confirm, and it’s recorded. No account or password.
- Progress is shown against deliverables, and a task only counts as done when its proof (a doc, a PR, a demo) is attached.
- Reads 31 tools, including Asana, Jira, monday.com, and Rocketlane, with read-only access, so the plan stays where your team keeps it.
Limits
- Not a file-sharing or billing portal: there’s no invoicing, contracts, or large-file delivery.
- Your logo and name are on the sponsor’s page from Team; removing the Unblockd footer is on Business, priced per customer.
Pick it if your projects stall waiting on a sponsor to decide, and you want them to answer from their inbox while your team keeps its tools.
Back to the listMoxo(the vendor’s site)
Best for: structured client workflows at volume.
- Published price
- Team plan $5,000 a year, with 100 flows a year and unlimited seats. Source, as of October 5, 2026
- Free option
- Free trial on request
Strengths
- Workflow building blocks for approvals, forms, decisions, eSignatures, file requests, and payments.
- Unlimited seats on the Team plan.
Limits
- Starts at $5,000 a year.
- Priced by flows: the Team plan includes 100 a year.
Pick it if you run the same client process many times a year (onboarding, renewals, document collection) and want each one built as a workflow.
Back to the listClinked(the vendor’s site)
Best for: secure, branded file sharing with clients.
- Published price
- Start Up $11 per user a month; Standard $239 a month with 100 members and 1 TB. Source, as of October 5, 2026
- Free option
- Trial available
Strengths
- Separate client portal and virtual data room plans.
- Standard includes 100 members and 1 TB of storage for $239 a month.
Limits
- Built around files and spaces; decisions and progress need another tool.
- Plans are sized by members, so large client lists move you up a tier.
Pick it if your clients mainly exchange documents with you and care about security and an audit trail.
Back to the listSoftr(the vendor’s site)
Best for: building your own portal.
- Published price
- Basic $19, Pro $99, Business $329 a month. Source, as of October 5, 2026
- Free option
- Free plan
Strengths
- A free plan to start building.
- Builds apps on Softr Databases, with REST API and MCP access.
Limits
- You design and maintain the portal yourself.
- Each plan caps the number of app users who can log in, with paid add-ons beyond that.
Pick it if no ready-made portal matches how you work, and someone on your team will own the build.
Back to the listBasecamp(the vendor’s site)
Best for: simple shared projects with clients.
- Published price
- Freelancer $25, Studio $59, Pro $99 a month; Unlimited $299 a month billed annually. No per-user fees. Source, as of October 5, 2026
- Free option
- Free for 1 project; 30-day trial (45 days on Unlimited)
Strengths
- No per-user fees on any plan.
- A free plan for one project, and paid plans from $25 a month.
Limits
- Paid plans below Unlimited cap active projects: 3 on Freelancer, 10 on Studio, 25 on Pro.
- Freelancer allows up to 20 users.
Pick it if you want one calm place for the team and the people it works for to share messages, to-dos, and files on a handful of projects.
Back to the listQuestions
- What is a client portal?
- A private page where people outside the team, such as a sponsor or another stakeholder, see what concerns them: files, invoices, requests, decisions, or progress. The useful ones put the reader’s next action first, so they don’t have to hunt through everything you share.
- Should a sponsor need an account to use the portal?
- For files and billing, a login is normal. For quick decisions, every login step costs answers, so tools like Unblockd let the sponsor answer from a private link in the email.
- Is a portal better than a weekly status email?
- They solve different problems. A portal holds the current state; an email reaches the sponsor where they already are. The status page vs status report guide covers when to use which.
- What does client portal software cost?
- Among the portals on this page, flat-priced suites start around $19 to $25 a month, contact-based portals at $29 a month, and workflow platforms at $5,000 a year. Unblockd is free for 1 project, then $15 per team member a month, with sponsors free.
